Is stealing wrong when--

Okay so the bachellor next door had a chicken that had eight babies in November---I saw them running around in his horse corral when they were two weeks old--The tempuratures were starting to get cold and I knew that as soon as the babies got bigger they would start fighting their siblings for space under their mom at night.

I didn't want any of them to die in the cold--SO I stole (TOOK WITH OUT PREVIOUS PERMISSION) them--It took Lliam, James, and I a half hour to chase down these little one--the mom i just picked up ---The babies--Let's just say I am surprised I caught them all with out hurting them--They dodged. They weaved. They almost ended up under my foot--
Finally --being soaked in sweat (yes, i am that out of shape) we loaded them in a picnic basket and took them home to our coop.
I went back to the house a couple days later--to confess--he said "oh i thought the cyotes got them." He could care less--
So I am proud to report that all eight babies are doing well --i think we only have one rooster in the bunch --So after feeding them for the winter I will probably negotiate a couple hens out of the guy and send the rest home.

This is the same neighbor who gave me three calves to nurse back to health--and then told me I could keep them--I am sure he won't mind parting with a few hens.
I am really looking forward to spring --I love all the babies.

I don't know if stealing is wrong when your saving a life... but in the end, you're just going to kill the little buggers... so you're really not saving a life after all.... just giving them a longer time to enjoy eating. :o)
That IS a dilemma.

Enjoy the sweet little peepers.
